Responding to a Changing Climate Back Home: Dealing with Community Trauma

Cantor Michael Shochet (featured in Episode 5) presented clips from Healing the Healers as part of his class called Responding to a Changing Climate Back Home: Dealing with Community Trauma at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem. As traumatic crisis events and anti-Semitic incidents occur in our communities, clergy need to help their congregants though these difficult times, even if their community is not directly affected. Cantor Shochet talked about how rabbis and cantors are responding to the changing face of violence in our communities. From mass shootings to bias and hate crimes, clergy are taking on new roles bringing comfort, calm and guidance to their congregations who are struggling with these many incidents in their communities.
